F. SNEAK PEEK: NEXT ISSUE OF MultiLingual

The next issue of MultiLingual features a focus on Technology. If you are a subscriber, this issue will be at your fingertips late August.

F.1. Emerging technologies and the cost of video localization by Sharon Lian and George Zhao

You've just been asked by a client to dub a short video with a tight turnaround time and a limited budget. How do you tell your client that it's not possible due to the tight deadline and budget? Or do you?

F.2. Predicting the unpredictable by Olga Melnikova

We can only speculate about the future. We can assume that artificial neural networks, machine learning and automation will develop further, but no one knows how far AI will go, what form it will take and what will be the next groundbreaking technology to change the world in the same fashion as internet, social media and big data did.

F.3. Intelligent terminology by Francois Massion

Terminology is an integral part of the work of translators or interpreters. To a great extent the challenge of translation amounts to understanding the meaning of special terms and finding their equivalents in the target language. Terms can be ambiguous, erroneous or have no match in the target language.
