G. SNEAK PEEK: NEXT ISSUE OF MultiLingual

The next issue of MultiLingual features a focus on "Games". If you are a subscriber, this issue will be at your fingertips late February.

G.1. Gender and the Italian localization of Tomb Raider by Mirco Carlini

The perception of gaming as a 'boys' club' has endured since the inception of the medium itself, and while currently game developers tend to cater to a more diverse audience by being generally more inclusive… it is undeniable that during their by now several-decades-long history, video games have had their fair share of issues with gender representation.

G.2. The future is here by Cristina Anselmi and Inés Rubio

Machine translation has been a hot topic for a while, especially since the rise of neural machine translation. The output quality spike is finally shaping solutions to deal with ever-increasing volume and accelerated demand, even for the prudent gaming industry.

G.3. So you want to be a games localizer by Tugdual Delisle

So you already work as a translator and want to localize video games. You love playing them, so why not? But are the skills you use now transferrable? It's not like the American Translators Association offers a certification for playing Mario Kart in Finnish, so what do you need to know in order to get the job?
