B.1. State of global marketing survey results

Cloudwords, Inc., a cloud-based translation management application, has posted downloadable survey results for a survey conducted during the Content Marketing Institute's annual conference in September. The survey polled 469 respondents on their global content marketing and translation strategies. Findings highlight marketing pain points typically associated with localization projects.

B.2. Unicode 6.3

The Unicode Consortium has announced version 6.3 of the Unicode Standard. Updates include improved bidirectional behavior — the updated bidirectional algorithm now ensures that pairs of parentheses and brackets have consistent layout and provide a mechanism for isolating runs of text. The new version also adds standardized variation sequences for all 1,002 CJK compatibility ideographs.

B.3. Words of Relief system pilot receives funding

Translators without Borders has received funding from the Humanitarian Innovation Fund for a pilot of its Words of Relief system, developed to address the critical problem of two-way communications during and immediately after a crisis. The pilot is a 17-month project, scheduled to begin in November 2013.
