Google, Inc., has acquired Quest Visual, developer of an app that translates, in real-time, printed words from one language to another using a device's built-in camera. Google will incorporate the translation app and its current language packs (German, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese and Russian) into Google Translate.

D.2. ELRA adds speech resources

The European Language Resources Association (ELRA) has added two new speech resources to its catalog. The Nepali Spoken Corpus contains audio recordings from different social activities within their natural settings, as much as possible, with phonologically transcribed and annotated texts, and information about the participants. The CLIPS_MT_MANUAL is a sub-corpus of the original Italian CLIPS corpus (Corpora e Lessici dell'Italiano Parlato e Scritto) and contains 3228 inspected and partially repaired WAV signal files.

D.4. New version of Unicode Ideographic Variation Database

The Unicode Consortium has released version 2014-05-16 of the Unicode Ideographic Variation Database (IVD), registering the new Moji_Joho collection. The database provides a registry for collections of unique variation sequences containing CJK Unified Ideographs, allowing for standardized interchange according to UTS #37, Unicode IVD.
