AT&T extends Language Line to Canada

American Telephone and Telegraph has now extended its Language Line service to calls from Canada. Operating for six years in the United States, Language Line offers instant translation service to subscribers who dial the special toll free number. The service employs about 1,000 interpreters and provides translations in 140 languages. The Canadian service will be marketed through Unitel, an AT&T partner.

The app is designed to work with most mobile devices or computers and also provides interpretation for Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish and Vietnamese, in addition to American sign language.
