BTS introduces Keyterm - a sophisticated multilingual database for technical writers and translators
Sep 20, 1995
Bureau of Translation Services Inc. announced that it will commercially market its KEYTERM software product in the United States. It allows users to access and optionally edit terminology while in a multilingual environment with multi-language management capabilities…in essence, a fully relational multilingual database for technical writers and translators worldwide.
KEYTERM is a concept-oriented terminology database management system. It is available on two different platforms: SCO-UNIX and Windows. A dictionary version of the KEYTERM system, known as KEYLEX for Windows, is also available for freelancers and terminology distribution within a project group; KEYLEX is also used to load and download information from the main database.
KEYTERM is already installed in over 200 worksites in Europe for clients such as Telekom Deutschland, the German Finance Ministry and NTU. KEYTERM offers multi-user access, unlimited capacity for different languages, multi-language administration of homographs, synonyms and abbreviations. It also has a customizable open structure for term entry for all relevant terminological and lexicographical information, automatic recognition of double entries, access security, open interface to SGML-based interface format, centralized management and easy distribution.
BTS will continue to develop and market KEYTERM, as well as support the current clients in Europe in partnership with Debis Systemhaus, a division of Daimler Benz.
