MASS provides multilingual support for Unix
Jun 20, 1995
The Institute of Systems Science of the National University of Singapore has introduced Multilingual Application Support Service (MASS) 2.3. MASS provides a multilingual and multiscript environment support for end users as well as application developers.
The main component of this environment is a multilingual input server, MINE (Multilingual Input for Novice and Expert users), which facilitates character input in several natural languages. Another component is a primitive multilingual text editor called MLEDIT. In addition to creating and editing multilingual text, MLEDIT converts one code standard to another, converts between Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and converts between Pinyin, Zhuyin, and Wade Giles phonetic systems for Chinese.
