U.S.Access is a cost-effective way to rapidly establish a first base in the Japanese market from which to begin selling U.S. application software. With the advent of Windows 3.1/J and DOS/V, Japanese PC users are now able to install and use most U.S.-made software as if under their Japanese operating environments. The name U.S.Access refers to the improved access that Japanese PC users can gain to U.S. software products via this program as opposed to products provided through gray marketing.
U.S.Access is a vehicle that enables these Japanese PC users to buy interesting U.S. software locally and receive decent customer support. At the same time, it gives U.S. vendors the opportunity to test market their existing products, thus receiving feedback and cash-flow on which to base their future Japanese product and business development efforts.
The U.S.Access office in Japan will provide a monthly newsletter to major Japanese software distributors, dealers, and U.S.Access members, including a listing of U.S. products available through the U.S.Access program. All U.S.Access products will contain a product description sheet in Japanese. Behind the description sheet are a five-page installation/user guide summary in Japanese and a registration card for customer support (addressee is U.S.Access office in Japan). The U.S.Access office in Japan will collect the registration cards and receive support calls.
