In high school, I was preparing myself for a career in science when I realized that my real passions were languages and cultures, and exploring all the diversity that the world had to offer. So I left physics, chemistry, and biology to enroll in translation and interpreting studies, which exposed me to lots of that, as well as connecting me with fascinating people, many of whom are now consolidated professionals in the industry and a bunch of them also dear old friends. The majority of them are women.
After college, I worked as a translator for a while, but being a people’s person, that felt lonely so I joined LocTeam, a Barcelona-based language service provider that landed me into the localization industry. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship that took me first to Dublin and then to Madrid. Roles in practically all localization functions — operations, sales, and managing a variety of experts and teams in four continents — forged my career.

I have developed my career at Centific over the past 12 years. Far from being bored, I have evolved with the company through various acquisitions, spin-offs, and rebranding processes, facing an increasingly demanding industry and pioneering in areas such as AI- and platform-based localization. I am proud of co-leading the globalization team into massive growth the last few years and building a highly diverse talent community of one million professionals worldwide — one of the flagships of the company and a reference in the industry.
My leadership style, and I believe that of many women, resides on determination, empathy, and turning challenges into opportunities. As women, we need to keep working so the values that define us best are perceived as advantages and not to perpetuate role stereotypes. There is still a long way to go, and we need to continue to coach younger generations to mature equally empowered regardless of their genre.
I could never pursue that career in science, but my daughter will be enrolling in biomedicine next year. Proud that she contributes to more women in STEM.
