Gráinne Maycock

Chief revenue officer at Acolad

Someone once described working in the localization industry to me as doing an MBA every quarter.

Initially, I didn’t understand the comparison, but after exploring various roles in language services, MT, quality management, operations, profit and loss management, general management, and revenue areas, I quickly grasped the analogy. For me, localization has always meant growth. It involves unblocking language and technology barriers, helping startups, scale-ups, and global multinationals grow successfully in their international markets. This growth extends to my knowledge of what matters to clients across industries and why, so I can help teams craft client-centric solutions.

Additionally, it means growth in partnerships, friendships, and relationships across languages and cultures. I’ve been fortunate to live in many countries and have been exposed to many cultures. I cannot imagine an industry that could facilitate half of the adventures, professional and personal, that this industry affords. I’m forever grateful for my mentors and have enjoyed seeing others grow in their careers, knowing that our interactions have helped each other on the journey. For instance, helping Eva Klaudinyova found the first international chapter of Women in Localization was a fun and rewarding endeavor, and I’m proud to see their work continue with global chapters and impact growing daily.

ACCOLADES

We need more managers like Gráinne.

When Gráinne takes over a challenge, she enters the game at very fast pace, focusing the rights targets, empowering the teams, making them collaborating to achieve goals and successes.

She’s an incredible role model

Her attitude and outlook on the business and life draw team members to want to produce for and with her. She is well deserving of your recognition.

At Acolad, I’m responsible for the global revenue organization, which spans sales, marketing, solutions, sales ops, and sales academy. I’m passionate about building Acolad’s unique brand and driving the next phase of growth for the group and our customers. Our team is rich with talented men and women who motivate me and make me proud every day. I’m proud to be surrounded by phenomenally talented leaders, from Gina Wilson, who heads our global life science business; to Clémence Fabre, who leads our sales ops and excellence teams; to Maria Sousa, who heads our global marketing organization.

The language industry has a predominantly female workforce, and in my experience, talent is recognized all the way to the top, irrespective of gender. However, even in our industry, we still have work to do to keep breaking down barriers and ensuring that talent and forces within our space get the opportunity to contribute and lead. I look forward to seeing new talents evolve in our vibrant space.

Known by clients, colleagues, and industry peers by her unique energy and drive, Gráinne has an impressive track record managing large, complex localization projects for global clients. Her dedication to customer service and her ability to lead and mentor have helped clients, her teams, and companies where she worked to achieve the most ambitious growth targets and market recognition. A technology enthusiast, and growth advocate, she recently took the role of chief revenue officer driving Acolad’s go-to-market strategy worldwide and leading the global revenue organization, including marketing, sales, solution engineering, revenue operations, and customer success. Gráinne is a mentor that embodies the best qualities of a leader: passion, excellence and an amazing ability to always keep the energy and sense of humor even in the most demanding times. Those qualities that you can only see in someone who’s biggest drive is the love for language and customer happiness.
