Priya Victor

Training manager at Deluxe Media

admire and commend the MultiLingual Media group for this wonderful initiative of encouragement, promoting women across the various spectrums of this industry. It felt surreal to see my name among so many others when the initial nomination list was shared as it contained industry stalwarts and amazing leaders of the localization industry. I was humbled when friends and colleagues reached out to share their best wishes on the nomination. Now, I am overwhelmed, and feel honored to be voted in as part of the top women in the language and localization industry.

ACCOLADES

Priya is a warm-hearted person.

Priya Victor is a brilliant teacher who introduces hundreds of new people to the world of localization each year and makes them love the process of creating subtitles for global audiences.

A typical namma Bangalore woman from India, I was blessed to grow up in a city which embraces all cultures and languages. I owe it to my father for encouraging me to constantly learn and face challenges head-on. I am inspired by the women in my family who have made their mark in the teaching industry, earning accolades for their contribution to the education field.

I never imagined the world that would open up for me when I joined Deluxe in 2005. My journey in this wonderful and exhilarating industry started off as an English editor, where watching and subtitling movies was my core responsibility. Over time, I broadened my wings and knowledge into the various possibilities within localization. I even saw myself delving into work with 3D artists, and then, yet another door of opportunity opened for me to collaborate globally with translators when I stepped into the role of managing projects. This was my first foray into collaborating with individuals across the globe. The opportunity to train motivated me to move into the training function from operations where I worked with global stakeholders to drive adoption of new platforms, tools, and processes. Having been actively involved in promoting the use of LMS and elearning content to optimize learning. Over the last two years I have trained 500+ new employees within Deluxe globally.

My biggest source of inspiration has been and continues to be my supervisors as well as colleagues within Deluxe. I am privileged to be surrounded and influenced daily by the amazing women around me at home and the office. I like to travel and experience new places. I also love to read and listen to music in my free time.

Priya has been an incredible stalwart within Deluxe India. She’s been the face of Deluxe for all our new team members. She’s exhibited a calm, welcoming and passionate teaching quality to all who join the company during their first training on localization. Over the years, she’s gained the trust of every trainee that she’s trained — years later, many of them still depend on and come to her for both work- and non-work-related conversations. She’s one of the strongest women I know, and never fails to leave a doubt or question unanswered. She’s been successful in building bridges and has even associated with the C-Suite in training them and imparting her knowledge with them as well.
