FEATURE
Yuka Kurihara
Senior director of globalization services at Scaled Agile, Inc.
Being featured as one of the top influential women in the localization industry in the MultiLingual is a significant achievement for me, especially considering my journey to get here. Coming to the United States before I could even speak English was a daunting challenge, but it was also a fantastic opportunity for my own growth and development. Through hard work and determination, I was able to overcome the language barrier and pursue my passion for localization.
To receive recognition like this — despite those initial challenges I faced — is a testament to the power of perseverance and hard work. It also serves as a reminder and an inspiration for others facing similar obstacles and shows them that anything is possible with the right mindset and approach.
ACCOLADES
Yuka Kurihara has completely transformed our company’s customer experience so that language and culture are no longer a barrier to achieving the benefits of our courseware and training. Given the complexity, depth, and length of the content, this is an extraordinary feat.
Yuka not only is an amazing professional but also an exceptional leader!
She closes the distance between countries by bringing people together with common goals.
Yuka-san has been a welcoming mentor to me ever since we met through LocLunch. Beyond getting to know her with our shared heritage, she even introduced me to Aki Ito-san, who I was able to interview for my first LocLunch as an ambassador. We wanted to do a sports theme, because our Warriors were in the finals! I admire how she always shows kindness and leadership in her roles professionally and personally.
I was simply blown away by her knowledge and enthusiasm for the localization industry.
I am proud to be a part of a group of influential women representing diverse backgrounds and experiences. This diversity makes our industry so unique and special. I plan to use this opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of language, technology, and communication and to inspire others to pursue careers in this exciting, dynamic field. I am grateful for this recognition, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the world of globalization and localization.
Yuka is an outside-of-the-box thinker and a great visionary. She’s constantly considering how localization can be done better and differently. As a member of her team for the last several years, what’s unique about her vision for the team and her future is that she isn’t thinking solely of herself and how she can advance her career, but her vision includes her team and their place in that effort. She sees their strengths and encourages and challenges them to shoot for more. We are so engaged and inspired, and I couldn’t ask for a better leader.
