Creative writing undoubtedly plays a key role in the translation process. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, increased demand for translated creative content led to attempted applications of neural machine translation (NMT) to creative texts in an effort to cut cost and time required to translate creative content — such as movies, television series, and video games — into a vast number of languages. Research shows, however, that machine translation post-editing (MTPE) can limit translators’ creativity.
