n this interview, VP of AI Solutions John Tinsley explains how the integration of Lara into TranslationOS via APIis transforming enterprise localization through intelligent and scalable workflows.
What’s new in TranslationOS?
As a cloud-based platform, TranslationOS is continuously updated and refined. Most recently, we made a major update with the full introduction of Lara, our AI translation model. Until now, our users have benefited from Lara being integrated into our professional services workflows, where translators use it behind the scenes to enhance translation quality. It has also been available directly via a standalone SDK.
With this release, Lara is available directly via the TranslationOS APIs and connectors, meaning enterprise users can reap the benefits of our professional services and AI solutions, all from one location.
How does this affect enterprise localization workflows?
It has a massive positive impact. This release effectively consolidates all of Translated’s services and technologies in one single location. Whether it’s pure AI translation, premium translation, copywriting, or something in between, enterprise teams can avail of fully integrated, seamless workflows that combine the best of human expertise and AI automation, all under one roof.
Custom workflows can be defined for different content types: business-critical material, such as legal documents or marketing materials, can go through various levels of human review, while large volumes of routine or time-sensitive content, like customer support responses or product descriptions, can be handled directly by Lara. Both human and AI workflows share the same resources—namely translation memories, glossaries, context, and instructions—ensuring consistency across all content types and languages.
This also ensures that all expert feedback from translators is shared with Lara so that it can further learn and adapt to the content.
What’s next for Lara and TranslationOS?
We’re building even more intelligent workflows, integrating AI features for quality estimation and TM cleanup, and expanding language capabilities.
On the workflow side, we’re expanding our ecosystem of native connectors across major CMS and product platforms. These connectors allow enterprises to embed human-AI symbiosis directly into their systems and automate end-to-end localization flows. We’re developing features that will enable Lara to generate multiple translation options for high-priority content that requires editorial sensitivity, while continuing to operate autonomously for large volumes of standard content. This approach allows for a more granular level of human involvement based on content importance, without disrupting the workflow.
In parallel, we’re extending Lara’s complete feature set, including custom glossaries, document-level context, and controllable instructions, to all 200 supported languages. This will ensure consistent performance and brand alignment across even the most complex global operations.
