In recent years, some US states have set the bar higher for educational multilingual and sign language interpreters, who must have licensure and specific credentials like the Educational Interpreters Performance Assessment. Various states have also gone as far as establishing their own testing to ensure interpreters have a minimal skill set to adequately provide services within their communities.
