Colegio de Traductores del Perú Organizes Int’l Congress on Translation & Interpreting

The world of translation and interpretation is gearing up for one of the most prominent events of the year: the III International Congress on Translation & Interpreting (CITEI) 2024. Organized by the Colegio de Traductores del Perú (CTP) in collaboration with Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón, Universidad Ricardo Palma, Universidad César Vallejo and Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, the congress will take place in Lima, Peru, on May 24-25, 2024, at the Los Delfines Hotel and Convention Center.

Under the theme “One World, Many Voices: Translators and Interpreters in the Digital Age”, CITEI 2024 will bring together scholars, researchers, and renowned experts from countries such as Spain, the United States, Canada, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, France, Switzerland, Russia, Iceland, among others. This event aims to highlight the challenges the profession faces with the advent of artificial intelligence and increasing global interconnectedness.

The congress will feature over 60 parallel sessions, 10 keynote speakers, and 5 round tables, offering a unique space to share knowledge and experiences. Topics will range from the latest technologies applied to translation and interpretation, with ethics as a central theme, to the status of indigenous languages, literary translation, audiovisual translation, and interpretation in legal and medical contexts. Specifically, it will focus on the new profile of the translator and interpreter as users and actors in artificial intelligence, automation, and digital transformation.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the CITEI Job Fair, networking with companies and organizations of the sector, and the Author Meet & Greet, which will allow for direct conversations and book signings with prominent specialists.

The event is sponsored by prestigious institutions such as the International Federation of Translators (FIT), FIT LatAm, the Instituto Interuniversitario de Lenguas Modernas Aplicadas (IULMA) from Spain, the Universidad de Málaga, and companies like Bilingual, tbo, MultiLingual magazine, Avento, Libun, LITS, Wordfast, and the International Association of Conference Interpreters(AIIC).
