Interpreters Unlimited (IU) has been named the silver winner in the “Most Socially Responsible Company of the Year” category in the 11th annual Best in Biz Awards International, the only independent global business awards program judged each year by prominent editors and reporters from top-tier publications from around the world.
Committed to social responsibility, giving back locally, nationally, and internationally is a big part of the IU company culture. Some causes that IU gives back to include the Syrian Community Network, the Muslim Community Center, the FBI Citizens Academy, the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center, the San Diego Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, Endangered Species International, and Survivors of Torture International. Always connecting with good causes and those in need, doing their part to try and make the world a better place, they hope to inspire others to do the same.
From volunteering with food banks and homeless shelters, to assisting refugee families assimilate to their new homes here in the US, to working with PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) providing housing, food, medical/street outreach programs, mental health support and more to the homeless, IU is involved in so much. This giving back includes mentoring hundreds of up-and-coming entrepreneurs in the business community through SBA SCORE and the Chairman’s Roundtable, and inspiring and preparing young San Diegans to succeed and become future leaders in business through Junior Achievement San Diego. IU also works with NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) every year providing free language services for their NORAD Tracks Santa Program, translating their website into eight languages along with doing their foreign language voiceover support for the Santa Tracker Phone Hotline.
Over the past 11 years and throughout a global pandemic, the Best in Biz Awards has seen nominations from the best in global business, and 2023 was no exception. As in prior years, the judges remarked that choosing winners was a sizable challenge, noting the entrants’ global and local impact, innovative technological solutions, employee-focused programs, and community and environmental outreach.
Winners in the 11th annual program were determined based on scoring from an independent panel of judges from a variety of top-tier publications and media outlets and representing all continents and a total of 15 countries and all continents. Each year, only editors, writers and contributors to business, consumer, financial, trade and technology publications, as well as broadcast outlets and analyst firms, serve as judges in Best in Biz Awards. Thanks to the unparalleled expertise and experience of the editors and reporters serving as judges and the diversity of outlets they represent, Best in Biz Awards judging panels are uniquely suited to objectively determine the best of the best from among the hundreds of competitive entries.
This year’s judging panel included writers, editors and broadcasters from such publications as Data Breach Today, HTMAG (Israel), Huffington Post, InBusiness (Cyprus and Greece), NDR (Germany), Panorama Magazine (United Arab Emirates), Small Business IT (Canada), TechRadar (UK), as well as other outlets from Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, United Kingdom and more.
