Language I/O adds Papago to its translation aggregation layer improving ability to translate non-European languages

Language I/O (LIO), a leading provider of multilingual customer support technology, today announced a significant advancement in its translation quality for Asia Pacific languages with the integration of Naver Papago. Naver Papago marks the sixth machine translation engine used by Language I/O to power customer support translations.

There are over 7,000 languages spoken in the world today. However, only 23 account for over half of the population’s main language. That language discrepancy is especially evident when it comes to aggregating data for translation services.

“At Language I/O, we are committed to actively improving our ability to translate non-european languages,” said Language I/O Vice President of Product Chris Jacob. “Papago represents a significant improvement in our support for Asia Pacific languages and enhances our capability to offer high quality translation engines for all of the world’s spoken languages.”

Prior to the integration, Language I/O conducted a thorough evaluation of Naver Papago, including a blind quality test with linguistic experts. The results showed that Papago’s translations for Korean and simplified Chinese were of higher quality than other MT engines. Language I/O also confirmed that it can provide instant translations for real-time conversations and is compliant with the company’s existing security requirements.

In addition to high quality machine translations to and from Korean, the Papago integration reduces the need to use rapid human translation (RHT) or other human-in-the-loop translation methods. MT serves as a more cost-effective method of translation that enables faster communication for global brands.

Language I/O currently provides accurate translations in over 150 languages across chat, email, articles and social support channels. For more information about Language I/O, please visit: https://languageio.com/.
