Acolad strengthens industry-leader status with acquisition of language services and transcription expert Ubiqus

Acolad announces today the acquisition of global translation and transcription expert Ubiqus. The operation confirms the group’s combined expansion plan to reinforce their worldwide footprint and leadership position.  Financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

Joining forces to support global growth across verticals and regions

With 30 years of existence, more than 15,000 customers globally and 550 employees, Ubiqus will further enhance Acolad’s global Language Services footprint. The combined businesses will offer a full suite of translation, localization, interpreting and transcription services, in more than 300 languages combinations.

This is the tenth acquisition in Acolad’s history, and the group has now passed the symbolic threshold of 2,500 employees. With a combined turnover of 330 million euros for the year 2021, Acolad stands out as one of the top worldwide leaders in the language industry. Benjamin du Fraysseix, President of Acolad group, comments: “We are thrilled to welcome Ubiqus to the Acolad group. Both companies have a similar history, services and customer commitment, aligning perfectly with our mission to transform multilingual communications everywhere in the world.”

Ubiqus brings to the group a strong expertise in the professional translation, transcription and interpreting market, supported by a combination of external vendors and an in-house pool of over 120 professional writers across markets. Ubiqus’ footprint in key regions such as France, North America, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Spain and Italy will further consolidate Acolad’s geographical reach and service deployment capability.

Building on a common DNA, technology, and a complementary portfolio

“At Acolad, we believe that offering the right combination of human expertise and innovative technology is the key to stand out in the content and language industry. Ubiqus’ proven service expertise and proprietary NMT, Speech Recognition solutions will further reinforce the group’s capacity to compete across verticals and geographies. We will also partner with the Ubiqus team to fully leverage the opportunity that we will have to deploy transcription and writing services on an even larger scale, building on Ubiqus market-leading position and solutions.”, explains Olivier Marcheteau, Acolad’s CEO.

The two industry leaders share a similar language services DNA, and consistent but complementary portfolios of customers across most key verticals such as Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Legal, Finance, Public, Consumer Goods and Tech. Upcoming synergies will develop the group’s portfolio of technology and services, while strengthening Acolad’s leadership.

“This is an exciting milestone for Ubiqus, our employees, customers and partners. Acolad’s portfolio and geographic reach are a perfect match for Ubiqus’ growth ambition and joining our forces means to be able to grow into a full-service multilingual content partner” concludes Vincent Nguyen, Ubiqus President.

The integration process has started and the Management teams of Acolad and Ubiqus are already actively partnering to fully activate the opportunities the deal creates across services lines and geographies.
