Earlier this week, the United Kingdom-based company Adaptive Globalization announced the winners of the 2022 Best Employers in Localization Awards (BELA), which award language service providers (LSPs) who provide employees with outstanding benefits and resources.
“BELA is here to celebrate the very best employers within the Language Services industry from around the world,” the organization writes. “We seek to acknowledge and applaud those LSPs, both big and small, that are striving to make a difference and that continue to make the Language Services industry an excellent career choice and an attractive sector for everyone, from Graduates to C-Level executives.”
The awards are divided into five different categories, including those that recognize LSPs for overall employee well-being, employee retention, training and personal development, career progression, as well as an overall best employer award. Each award is given to two LSPs, one for smaller LSPs and one for those worth more than $10 million. This year, Sandberg Translation Partners and Capita Translation and Interpreting were awarded with the BELA for Overall Best Employer.
Other companies recognized for their achievements include Montero Language Services, Sandberg Translation Partners, and Welocalize. New York-based Welocalize received the BELA for best training and professional development services — in response, the company shared a statement on Jan. 17 discussing the company’s training services.
“Welocalize is proud to be an inclusive organization with a supportive environment that includes multiple training and learning opportunities where everyone can thrive,” said Ronan Kevitt, senior leader of Welocalize’s People Success team. “I am extremely proud Welocalize has earned the honor of a BELA Award for ‘Best Training and Personal Development.’ ”
Welocalize offers a training program for all of its new hires, which it calls WeLearn — the program allows full-time employees, contractors, and freelancers the opportunity to get to know the company better and further hone their skills according to their needs. Welocalize wrote that the company’s employees spent a total of 7,046 hours in training sessions during 2021.
“The program provides structured learning opportunities to translators and other language professionals in different corners of the world,” Brennan Smith, the company’s VP of talent, added. “We also offer learning opportunities to thousands of non-employee team members, including those in underserved communities.”
