Cinedigm partners with Spherex to expand international content distribution capabilities

Spherex, an entertainment technology and data company, announced this week a partnership with Cinedigm to accelerate Cinedigm’s international expansion. The companies have partnered on global content localization and compliance using Spherex’s AI and machine learning capabilities. Cinedigm has made it a priority to monetize its digital content catalog, and Spherex will contribute its technology and expertise to ensure Cinedigm’s video assets and metadata are compliant with international regulations for content age ratings and optimized to adhere to prevailing cultural norms and practices across a range of regions globally.

Integrating its proprietary Matchpoint platform, Cinedigm will utilitze Spherex’s global metadata solution to localize its digital content across a growing number of subscription video on demand (SVOD), advertising-based video on demand (AVOD), and Smart TV streaming platforms worldwide.

Meta’s Localization Platform Wins IABM BaM Award

Meta’s new localization platform was honored with a Bammy Award by The International Trade Association for the broadcast and media industry at the 2020 Broadcast and Media Awards. Meta received the top prize in the “Manage” category of The BaMs, which rewards excellence in the area of the aggregation, preparation, and management of completed content items ready for distribution.

The Meta Localization Platform centers on subtitling, dubbing, and translation localization requirements, as well as contributing to the technical and editorial compliance processes. The platform leverages Meta’s cloud architecture, advanced react design components, and API gateway to connect orders from programming and operations teams to over 200 external localization Studios, keeping a clear audit trail and reducing the margin for error.

CaptionLabs expands closed captioning capabilities

CaptionLabs, which provides language dubbing, translation, and multi-language closed captioning, has expanded its closed captioning capabilities to include Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French, Italian, and German, among others. CaptionLabs does not use voice recognition or AI technology for foreign translation and captioning services, but rather incorporates regional transcriptionists and linguists into their team to ensure accuracy.

KUDO v18 adds customizable interface, lobby, and enhanced parliamentary voting features

KUDO Inc., the language-as-a-service solution for online meetings, has announced an update to its signature cloud-based platform with the release of v18. The release will include a host of new features and security enhancements, such as the KUDO lobby, customized attendee interface, and enhanced voting solutions, among other platform improvements and optimizations.

The KUDO Lobby feature introduces a waiting room where attendees can test their devices and internet connectivity before entering a meeting, and organizers will be provided with increased security with the ability to accept or deny access to users, and thus avoiding confidentiality breaches. Meeting organizers can also use the customizable attendee interface to enable or disable features depending on the meeting’s requirements. Additionally, the release includes an enhanced voting solution that supports different forms of voting such as parliamentary and multiple choice and provides administrative capabilities for meeting organizers, including restricting voting control to specific roles and assigning voting rights and weight to a specific group of participants for a given poll.

This update is accompanied by the release of the iOS v8 and Android v7 applications, both which include compatibility with the new features, for consistency across the web-based and mobile experience for attendees.
