Utah Valley University has announced they will host the fourth annual Language Industry Day on Wednesday, February 25, from 12:00–3:30 p.m. in the Clarke Building (Room 101C). The event brings together students, educators, and professionals from across Utah to explore careers at the intersection of language, business, and technology.
Language Industry Day is designed to connect students with language companies, industry associations, nonprofit organizations, and working professionals to highlight the wide range of career opportunities available in the language services field. The event is open to all students and professionals throughout Utah, regardless of whether they are currently studying a language. Whether students are fluent in multiple languages or simply curious about careers that bridge language, culture, and technology, this event provides valuable insights into the opportunities available in the rapidly evolving language services landscape.
This year’s keynote speaker is Jeff Beatty, Executive Director of Product Management, Localization and Globalization at The Walt Disney Company. Beatty will share insights into the localization and globalization landscape within the entertainment industry, followed by a Q&A session with attendees.
Following the keynote presentation, participants will be invited to an open-floor networking session where organizations and businesses will host tables and booths, providing students with the opportunity to connect directly with industry representatives, learn about internships and career pathways, and explore how language skills translate into real-world professions – from translation and interpreting to language technology and localization.
Language Industry Day continues to serve as a key workforce development and networking event, strengthening connections between higher education and Utah’s growing language services industry.
