Your language can say that?

As we have all heard in the past in various articles, books, conferences, etc, there are supposed to be many words for snow in the Eskimo language.  There are different claims as to how many words (or lexemes) exist, and such information can be found quite easily by looking up “eskimo words for snow” with your favorite search engine.

Along these same lines, there is a new blog/book out called The Meaning of Tingo which provides a wide variety of examples of vocabulary and terminology from all types of areas from over 150 languages.  For linguists, this is a goldmine of examples for research. For you business folks, it’s a good resource to demonstrate in those conference presentations that you know the oddities of many languages. And for computational geeks, it’s a reference to test out your linguistic parsers on.
