Acolad has been named for the new NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) Interpretation and Translation Framework. The appointment gives NHS trusts and public bodies streamlined access to a partner with strong public-sector experience and a full range of interpreting, BSL, video and translation services.
NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) was created in 2004 by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to deliver corporate services to the NHS. A unique joint venture with Sopra Steria, a European leader in digital services and software development, it makes life easier for NHS employees, patients and suppliers, and delivers value for money to the taxpayer.
Proud members of the NHS family, NHS SBS is the country’s leading supplier of corporate services to the NHS, they manage over 40 framework agreements covering a wide range of clinical and corporate goods and services.
Committed to being a force for good, NHS SBS is dedicated to acting responsibly and sustainably at organizational, team and individual level. Sharing common values and unity of purpose with the rest of the NHS family, its solutions are underpinned by cutting-edge technologies and the teams’ expertise, in-depth understanding of the NHS, and commitment to service excellence.
The 2+2 years framework covers Face-to-Face (Spoken Language), British Sign Language (BSL), Telephone Interpreting, Document Translation and Ancillary Services, Video Interpretation and a One-Stop-Shop (Managed Service) model for end-to-end language support. Acolad has been appointed to all six Lots – underscoring the breadth, quality, and reliability of its language solutions.
Securing a place on this framework strengthens Acolad’s position within the UK public sector, offering access to an estimated annual combined spend of €21 million across suppliers. It also builds on years of work with NHS organisations and government bodies, where accuracy, compliance and service continuity are critical.
“This shows the confidence public-sector teams place in our work and in the people behind it,” said Chris Stypula, Head of Sales for the UK at Acolad. “The NHS is one of the most respected public institutions in the world. Helping its teams communicate clearly and inclusively is something we take pride in. This milestone strengthens our momentum in the UK public sector and reinforces our role in supporting essential services.”
This latest success crowns a strong second half of 2025 for Acolad’s UK operations, following the group’s inclusion in multiple major public-sector frameworks and new contract wins with both the British Council and the Department for Science and Technology (DSIT). Together, these milestones reinforce Acolad’s growing role in supporting communication across the UK’s public institutions.
