The Association of Language Companies (ALC) marked a momentous occasion in September 2023 as it celebrated its 21st Summit, returning to its roots in Portland, Oregon. Portland graciously welcomed enthusiastic ALC members, setting the stage for three days filled with captivating presentations by industry luminaries.
Each year, the Summit bestows the prestigious Bill Graeper Award upon a deserving member, paying homage to the co-founder of the ALC and his unwavering commitment to protecting the language services industry from detrimental government legislation. In 2023, the honor was conferred upon Susan Amarino, the outgoing president of the ALC and the owner of Liaison Multilingual Services. The award, a symbol of dedication and excellence, was presented to her by Scott Klein of LanguageLine Solutions, highlighting Susan’s outstanding contributions to the industry.
As part of the Summit experience, attendees embarked on city-wide adventures, thoughtfully guided by the Certified Languages team’s guidebook. Participants delved into the vibrant heart of Portland, discovering the city’s well-earned reputation for its exceptional culinary scene, craft beverages, thriving artistry, and rich cultural heritage. ALC’s 21st Summit in Portland rekindled the spirit of camaraderie and innovation that has been at the core of the organization since its inception.
The ALC wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the Summit speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors whose unwavering support continues to provide invaluable resources and assistance to its members. This Summit in Portland was not only a celebration of the ALC’s rich history but also a testament to the enduring strength and unity of the language services industry.
