California Resumes Bilingual Education Programs

The Global California 2030 Initiative aims to ensure that three in four California students are proficient in two or more languages by 2040 — a lofty goal that was set back by the COVID-19 pandemic. The shift to remote learning had a greatly negative impact on these programs, which require a large degree of interaction between students. Finally, however, the state’s public school system is working to bring back in-person bilingual and dual-language immersion programs for California students, according to a report from Sacramento’s KCRA 3.

Transfluent Web Tool Now Available in Japanese and Chinese

Transfluent, a company which aims to help customer service representatives and other business managers seamlessly communicate with multilingual customers, has recently added Japanese and Chinese to its roster of languages available on its web-based machine translation (MT) system. The Web Translation Tool now features English, Spanish, Finnish, and Swedish, in addition to the recently added languages.

SYSTRAN Launches New Translation Software

San Diego-based language service provider (LSP) SYSTRAN recently announced the launch of its new software, SYSTRAN Translate PRO. The new software adds a number of different features and the company touts its customizability and cloud-based interface. 

Lion People Group Announces M&A Masterclass

Lion People Group, a Dublin-based LSP, has announced that it will be hosting a masterclass series focused on mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The online masterclass series will run from mid-June to mid-July with sessions for both buyers and sellers interested in learning more about the M&A process. Olga Blasco, the resident M&A expert at Lion People Group will lead the classes alongside Annette Lawlor, the company’s CEO, who will be moderating each session.
