Imagine being able to reach a global audience with just the click of a button. That’s in the works at WPML, the #1 plugin for building multilingual WordPress sites.
WPML’s new feature, “Translate Everything,” takes automatic translation to the next level by instantly translating your entire site as you create or edit content. Once your content is translated, you can review the translations before publishing.
WPML already powers over 1 million websites from around the world. With the improvements and new features coming later this month, it will continue to expand its offerings to make translating sites easier, faster, and more affordable.
Solving the problem with manual translation – time, expense, effort
Let’s face it. Translating sites is a lot of work. If you work with translators, you need to work according to their timelines, be available to answer any questions they have, and wait for translations to come back. Expenses can add up quickly each time you have to update your content. If you’re translating the content yourself, it can be exhausting, especially if it’s only a part of your day-to-day job.
WPML’s automatic translation allows you to translate your site’s content instantly, saving you tons of time and giving you a great head start when you’re translating the site yourself. Plus, a built-in translation memory means you won’t pay for sentences that you’ve already translated.
WPML clients clearly appreciate this convenience. They’ve been translating more than 200,000 pages each month with automatic translation – that’s more than 50 million words!
Improvements to WPML automatic translation
Over the last year and a half, WPML has been investing in new integrations and features for automatic translation.
Google Translate and DeepL have joined Microsoft Azure as available translation engines. You can choose your preferred engines, set a fallback order in case your language pairs aren’t supported by your preferred engine, and disable engines you don’t like.
Since adding these integrations, Google Translate seems to be the most popular option with 52% of clients choosing it as their preferred engine. Microsoft Azure is the next most popular option at 43%, and DeepL accounts for 5%.
Integrating with different translation engines means WPML can offer a variety of options for natural, high-quality translations, as each engine has its strengths and weaknesses with different language pairs. WPML can also support more language pairs.
So far, some of the most popular source languages for automatic translation jobs are as follows:
Translation job source language | % of translation jobs |
