AI Localization Think Tank Announces AI ThoughtCon 2026

The AI Localization Think Tank is thrilled to announce AI ThoughtCon, its inaugural conference dedicated to examining the human implications of artificial intelligence. This online event will bring together diverse voices for three days of live discussions that go beyond typical AI discourse to address the questions many have long wanted to ask and to surface new questions that will shape our collective future.

AI ThoughtCon goes beyond surface-level conversations. It aims to examine the deeper implications of AI: How does AI change meaning? What makes AI trustworthy? What are our roles as humans in an AI-first world? By bringing together historians, educators, developers, language practitioners, and localization professionals, the conference aims to spark interdisciplinary dialogue on building human-centered AI.

A diverse mix of voices

The conference features 12 speakers representing a wide range of expertise and perspectives, all with a stake in the global AI debate. This diverse lineup brings together multiple viewpoints on the critical intersections of language, technology, and human values.

Day 1: The Future – Truth, Trust, and Politics of Expertise

The conference opens on March 30, 2026, examining how we establish trust amid technological change. Keynote speaker Maria Zarifi will address “Truth, Trust, and the Politics of Expertise in Times of Change,” setting the stage for a panel discussion on trust, governance, ethics, and AI safety. The day will conclude with a talk on storytelling and the value of localization by Miguel Sepulveda.

Day 2: The People – AI Bias, Ethics, and the Human Role

March 31 focuses on the human dimension of AI. The day begins with a panel on “AI Bias & AI Ethics: What Must the Localization Industry Reckon With?” followed by three compelling talks: Joss Moorkens will discuss teaching translation in the age of generative AI, Cristina Contini will explore the evolving role of linguists in AI speech technology (“From Text to Voice”), and Daniel Sebesta will present on creative control in AI translation.

Day 3: The Technology – Practical AI Implementation and Evaluation

The final day, April 1, focuses on practical AI implementation and evaluation with keynote speaker Ben Hylak offering a builder’s perspective on AI (”The Next 5 Years: What Will The World Look Like?”). Subsequent sessions cover scaling without SaaS lock-in by Emily Diamantopoulou, AI-powered software generation in localization workflows by Istvan Lengyel, and evaluating GenAI content quality with Marta Nieto Cayuela.

A free, accessible, interactive experience

AI ThoughtCon is free to attend and will be held live over three days, with ample time for audience questions and discussion. The conference runs from 16:00-18:30 CET each day, making it accessible to participants across multiple time zones. This reflects the Think Tank’s belief that conversations about AI’s future must remain inclusive, accessible, and open to all stakeholders.

What makes this conference different

In a crowded field of AI conferences, AI ThoughtCon stands apart by centering the questions that often go unasked. Rather than focusing solely on efficiency gains or technological capabilities, this conference examines AI’s impact on meaning, trust, ethics, and human agency. AI is no longer optional, so what are our choices? AI ThoughtCon invites participants to help answer that question together.
