ELAN Languages Augments AI Expertise With C-Jay International Acquisition

ELAN Languages, the Benelux’s largest language solutions provider, has acquired Belgian AI innovator C-Jay International, thereby accelerating the company’s position as an AI-enabled industry leader, and enhancing its ability to deliver premium global experiences at enterprise scale.

With this strategic acquisition, ELAN Languages gains C-Jay’s proprietary integration layer that bridges large language models (LLMs) with key localization components, including translation management systems. “LLMs are extremely powerful, but challenging to implement at scale,” explains Jourik Ciesielski, C-Jay’s founder who now leads ELAN Languages’ technology development. “Our integration enables deployment of deeply customized LLMs for every stage of the multilingual content lifecycle, creating genuine usable results for diverse customer profiles.

Human in Control

ELAN Languages’ AI capabilities extend far beyond machine translation. The company has successfully implemented different LLM-powered use cases, ranging from automated post-editing and quality estimation to AI dubbing and workflow optimization. Processing hundreds of millions of source words annually for government and B2B clients, ELAN combines this AI power with human oversight — what CEO Robrecht Beliën calls “human in control”.

The acquisition accelerates ELAN Languages’ evolution into a global content and technology partner. With AI embedded in scalable, customer-oriented solutions such as a self-service platform and API, ELAN enables faster project cycles and more agile multilingual delivery, without compromising linguistic quality. “We believe in careful model selection and practical implementation instead of simply chasing the latest trend,” Beliën explains.

With 175 employees in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland, and more than €70 million in revenue, ELAN Languages is well-equipped to expand into new customer segments and markets. “For me, this is the opportunity to make real impact with what I started,” says Ciesielski. “Together, we can shape how AI and human expertise converge in our industry.”
