Intertext, currently one of the most veteran companies in the translation and localization services sector in Spain, has just announced that it has obtained the ISO 18587 certification, validating its quality system in the field of post-edited machine translation management. The term post-editing refers to the review of machine translations, which is still necessary since, for now, the performance of machine translation systems is not infallible.
ISO 18587 is an international standard that establishes the requirements for managing quality in post-edited machine translation projects. In particular, it establishes the need for an evaluation of the suitability of the texts for a machine translation process and defines different degrees of post-editing (light or full) to be agreed with the client. On the other hand, like ISO 17100 for translation services, it regulates the training of post-editing linguists and requires certain quality controls of the post-editing output.
It should be noted that Intertext has been ISO 9001 certified since 2003 and was the first Catalan company and the second Spanish company to obtain UNE EN 15038 certification (translation services), which was later replaced by the international standard ISO 17100. These certificates reflect the company’s commitment to quality management and effective processes, in line with its mission: the professionalization of translation services and the implementation of the best technological solutions to meet customer needs.
By becoming ISO 18587 certified, Intertext is once again demonstrating that it is a pioneer in its field and is permanently committed to progress.
