Samsung to Add Four Languages to Galaxy AI by Year-End

Samsung has announced plans to extend Galaxy AI’s language capabilities by adding Turkish, Dutch, Swedish, and Romanian to its repertoire before the end of 2024. This development will increase Galaxy AI’s total supported languages to 20, making the company’s AI features accessible to a broader user base worldwide. Additionally, Samsung has included new dialect options for traditional Chinese and European Portuguese to cater to regional needs.

Samsung’s blog post states that this development “advances its commitment to lowering barriers of language and communication.” And according to an article on Android Central, Samsung’s language “expansion only means more users across regions will be able to enjoy the benefits of the Galaxy AI in their regional language.”

In an Android Police article, author Sanuj Bhatia explains that Galaxy AI has been a major focus for Samsung this year as it launched the Galaxy S24 smartphone series. With this latest update, scheduled to begin rolling out at the end of October, users with compatible Galaxy devices (including phones and watches) will be able to download these new language packs directly from their device settings — enabling tools like Live Translate, Interpreter Mode, and Note Assistant.

This update follows a growing trend of tech companies aiming to enhance the multilingual capabilities of mobile technology. Bhatia writes that while Galaxy AI’s language support is behind Google’s Gemini (which supports 40 languages), it is ahead of Apple’s AI offering (which plans to support just 16 languages by the end of 2025). “This shows how far Samsung has come in integrating its AI models across its entire ecosystem,” Bhatia writes.
